I believe in psychotherapy as in any other life domain you can have a better experience if you end up working with the right people, the people who share your values. I will briefly describe my values, hoping that this will help ease your decision of whether you would like us to work together or not. - Freedom: the desire to consciously reach decisions which you are willing to live by - Open, honest communication in which you show the courage to risk being who you are and to create the space for the other person to be who they are - Respect for people and tolerance for diversity: the desire to see and understand perspectives which are different than yours without judging them - Openness towards learning I work as a cognitive-behavioural therapist, and this means that the therapeutic process begins with an evaluation stage which has as purpose to clarify what will be addressed in therapy, in which order, which are the factors that have led to the current problems and which are the resilience factors, those which will contribute to reducing the problems. The intervention itself will involve each of the commonly set objectives in turn through cognitive and behavioural techniques and through tasks you will be working on in between sessions. The purpose is to help you get a clearer view of the difficulties you are facing, to understand why they have come about and why they continue and, above all, to learn the most appropriate strategies you could use to reduce these difficulties. It is a process in which you will have to confront discomfort, in which you will have breakthroughs, in which you will experiment a lot and which will test your openness towards learning. As a therapist my role is to guide you in this process and to stand by you, but there will be no results without your commitment.
