The formal texts, papers and conferences make therapy look like being precise and systematic, following clear steps, but my opinion is that when nobody is paying attention, the therapist throws in the secret ingredient. But what is that secret ingredient? I think we can find it outside the formal theory, it's difficult to describe or to categorise it. It's hard to learn or to define qualities like compassion, availability, the interest for others or wisdom, but I strongly believe that these are the ingredients that make the difference in a therapeutical journey.
